Gardening with Rain Barrels, The Watershed

Saturday May 8, 2021
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Kit Pick up - May 5

While the rainfall is plentiful now, in several months we'll be eager for additional water for our vegetable and flower gardens. Capturing and reusing rainwater for your gardens using a rain barrel is an easy way of controlling stormwater and helping to reduce local flooding. Pick up your kit and join us for the virtual workshop for all the instructions you need to build, install and maintain a rain barrel.

The workshop requires some light use of tools and will be guided by Watershed staff. You will need the following tools at home to build the barrel: disposable gloves for applying silicone/caulk, and channel locks, or an 8- or 10-inch adjustable wrench. The $50 registration fee includes all materials needed for the rain barrel, but you will need to acquire the tools listed above on your own prior to the build. The fee is per barrel, so groups of multiple people can build one barrel for $50.
