Youth Fishing in our Parks, Mercer Parks

Join us for a morning of fishing at one of our ‘fishing holes.’ Designed for beginners, we’ll provide the instruction and the equipment. Participants age 16 and up must have a current state fishing license. To register, click here. Masks & social distancing are mandatory at all in-person programs.

Don’t Be Idle, Let’s Upcycle, Sustainable Princeton

You’ve asked for it and it’s coming back! Please join us for our next waste collection event where we pledge to find upcycling and recycling opportunities for wine corks, sealed batteries, cell phones, bagged packaging styrofoam and more. In addition, bring your used bikes in any condition for the Boys & Girls Club of Mercer County to refurbish and distribute them to those in need. This event is free and open to the public. Downtown History Walk, Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie

Urban Planner David Bosted and On the Forefront Curator Karl Flesch will lead a fascinating walk along State St. to Montgomery St. to view five buildings and the sites of three others designed by Willam A. Poland. Closing out the walking tour, we'll take a short drive to Junior No. 1 to view the school's outdoor architecture. Limit 25 participants.


In Their Shoes, Mental Health Exhibit, Attitudes In Reverse

Attitudes In Reverse® (AIR™), a Princeton-based nonprofit, will present its powerful In Their Shoes™ exhibit for the first time since the pandemic began on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dowling Gardens (2 Dowling Parkway, Woodland Park, NJ 07424; Rain Date: Saturday, June 6, 2021). This event, which is being held with support from the Woodland Park Range and Woodland Park Stigma-Free Task Force, will also include the Coming Up for AIR™ mental health education and suicide prevention presentation.

The exhibit consists of 277 pairs of shoes to represent the New Jersey youth, ages 10 through 24, who lost hope and ended their lives in the years 2014 to 2016, according to the 2018 New Jersey Youth Suicide Report published by the state’s Department of Children and Families. Most of these individuals – 196 – were young men.
