Plein Air Paint Out, Arts Council of Princeton

Grab your easel and pick a spot around town to let the surroundings inspire your next work. Sketch or paint your favorite place to join the Paint Out movement. Passersby can enjoy seeing local artists at work and all paintings created during the Paint Out will be featured in a future exhibition at the Arts Council. Register.

Virtual Telethon, Old Barracks Museum

Join us on Saturday, October 10 at 1 pm for a virtual telethon fundraiser to support the educational programming of the Old Barracks Museum, including the new Connecting to the Revolution virtual field trips! It’s free to tune in, and donations will be accepted from now through the end of the event!

The content will range from historical to hysterical, and be performed by staff, volunteers, and friends of the Old Barracks. Throughout the telethon, donations will be solicited and collected via Facebook donations and PayPal to help support the educational programming of the Old Barracks Museum.

Amazing Drive-Thru Pumpkin Carve, Hopewell Valley Arts Council

Woolsey Park, 221 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road, Titusville. www.hvartscouncil.org.

40 colossal pumpkins will be carved and electrified by area artists and displayed in an illuminated drive-through. Live music and DJs plus a chance for socially distanced photo-ops. Popcorn and cider for purchase, plus free mini-pumpkins while supplies last. Register. $25 per vehicle with up to six occupants.

Papel Picado & Paper Flowers

The art of cutting paper banners is a true talent in Mexico, traditionally done with chisels. We will make the festive tissue paper banners that flutter over every plaza, shop, and doorway during Day of the Dead. Flowers are also a large part of this holiday, gathered in bunches and placed at cemeteries. Learn how to make a bouquet of the brightly colored cempoalxochitl flowers the Arts Council has used to decorate our altar arch for our annual festival.

Save the Sourlands SoloFest

Sourland Conservancy Brings Together 25 Naturalists and Musicians on October 10th to Celebrate and Save Central Jersey's Great Forest

On October 10th at 8:00 pm, The Sourland Conservancy will present a free, hour-long program combining nature documentary and music festival to raise public awareness and funds to address a serious threat to the Sourlands - the third largest forested area in New Jersey, home to several threatened and endangered species, in central New Jersey.
