Birding Field Trip, Washington Crossing Audubon Society

Join Washington Crossing Audubon Society at 8 AM on Saturday, May 18 for a free, guided walk led by Brad Merritt to observe the spring migration of warblers and other songbirds at the Institute Woods near the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton, NJ. Directions: From Princeton take Alexander St. towards Rte. 1. At the bend before the canal turn right on West Dr. Go a short distance on West Dr. and park near the entrance to Rogers Wildlife Refuge. Learn to Canoe, Wargo Pond, The Watershed Institute

New to paddling? Here's your chance to learn some basics! Join several experienced paddlers at lovely Wargo Pond to learn canoe skills and safety. We will provide all the canoes, paddles, and life jackets! The instruction will include paddling techniques, practice on the water, and a game. A certified lifeguard will be present while we are on the water. All under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Bike Tour of D&R Canal, Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch

The Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch will hold a free history tour by bicycle along the D&R Canal towpath on Saturday, May 18, from Kingston to Griggstown and back.

Cyclists will meet 10 a.m. at the locktender’s house in Kingston, located off Route 27 just north of the bridge over the Millstone River, for the 10-mile round-trip ride. Canal Watch board member Bob Barth will conduct the ride, which will stop at historic canal structures, such as locks, spillways and canal houses. He will explain why the D&R was one of the most successful canals in the United States. Helmets are required and cyclists are advised to bring water.

8th Annual Wheels Rodeo, Princeton Police and Princeton Human Services

This year, The Princeton Police and Princeton Human Services will host the 8th annual Wheels Rodeo. The event will be held from 10 am – 1 pm on Saturday, May 18th, 2019 (rain date May 19th, from 10 am – 1 pm), at the Community Park Pool Parking lot located at 400 Witherspoon Street Princeton, NJ. The event is open to all Princeton residents and is free of charge.

It will include a bicycle safety check, free helmets and giveaways for children and a bike road course for kids.There will be free refreshments for participants: hot dogs and cold bottled water, provided by McCaffrey’s Food Markets. A brand new bicycle and a Community Pool family membership will be raffled donated by the Princeton Recreation Department. There will be bicycle accessory giveaways. Members of the Princeton Police Department, Princeton Fire Department and Princeton First Aid Squad will also display various emergency tools and equipment. Please feel free to bring unwanted bicycles for donation. How to Begin your Family Genealogy, Hunterdon County Historical Society

Learn the basics of how to research your family history with a genealogy workshop at The Hunterdon County Historical Society on Saturday, May 18, from 10:00 am- 2:00 pm. The workshop will be held at the Society’s headquarters and library located at 114 Main Street in Flemington.
