Birding Field Trip, Washington Crossing Audubon Society

Join Washington Crossing Audubon Society at 9 AM on Saturday, May 4 for a guided walk led by Brad Merritt to observe spring songbird migrants at Garret Mountain Reservation, a Passaic County Park located just south of Paterson, NJ. We may also visit the adjacent Rifle Camp Park. Bring a lunch. Directions: Take I-287 to I-80. Go east to exit 56A (Squirrelwood Road). Go to the stop sign and turn right on Rifle Camp Road. Go up the hill about 0.5 miles to Mountain Ave., which comes in from the left. Turn left on Mountain Ave. (look for an army tank and the reservoir on the left) and go 0.3 miles to the entrance to Garret Mountain Reservation. Spring Plant Expo, The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County

The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County will hold their annual Spring Plant Expo and Garden Market on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine at the Mercer Educational Gardens, 431A Federal City Road, Hopewell Township, on the grounds of Mercer County Stables.

This year’s Expo will feature popular perennials, trees and shrubs home-grown by Rutgers Master Gardeners, a garden market with top-notch vendors from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and a second-hand sale of gardening tools and books. Meet local growers and purchase a wide variety of native plants, woody ornamentals, perennials and herbs for your home landscape. For the vegetable garden, an assortment of organic tomato seedlings will be available, including Rutgers varieties and heirlooms, as well as a selection of organic pepper seedlings, hot and sweet.

Garden State African Violet Club's 67th Annual Flower Show and Plant Sale

Enjoy viewing award-winning African violet plants, creative designs and educational displays to help you grow your own beautiful African violets. Don't miss the opportunity to see hundreds of judged plants on display, grown by local club enthusiasts and prominent growers. Experts will be on hand to answers your questions! An interactive workshop will also be available to help you grow beautiful plants.

The workshop will begin at 2:00pm "How to Re-pot African Violets". Workshop attendees will receive a coupon for a discounted plant from our sales table. Plants will be for sale from commercial growers and club members.

"The Time is NOW" Student Conference for Women's Rights, Princeton Day School
