Annual Walk of Hope & Awareness Day, Carrier Clinic

Carrier Clinic will host its annual Walk of Hope & Awareness Day on Saturday, Sept. 15, in support of the many programs at its Belle Mead campus to battle mental illness and drug addiction. The public is invited to take part in this special day of inspiration.

Sign-in for walkers opens at 9 a.m. The 1-mile walk around the Carrier campus begins at 10 a.m. Walkers are invited to bring their dogs, so long as those pets are on a leash and are vaccinated. Individual participants are urged to aim high and raise more than $108 (one dollar for every year of Carrier’s existence.) Walkers can also form teams, inviting others to join.

Water Wheelies, The Watershed Institute

Families will explore kinetic energy by building their own experimental waterwheel. Then put on your boots for a hike to the Stony Brook where we'll test our waterwheels and investigate how water's energy turns the blades of our mini hydro-turbines. All materials included.

26th New Jersey Storytelling Festival, Howell Living History Farm

Join talented tellers from throughout New Jersey and the tri-state area Saturday, September 15, for the 26th New Jersey Storytelling Festival and hear a whole new crop of stories cultivating good times for all ages at Howell Living History Farm. The fun begins with the Story Slam from noon to 1 p.m. Contestants will be chosen at random to recount a 5-minute or less personal tale on the theme of “Chicken!” Outrageous, thought-provoking, and adventurous personal tales are welcome but please keep in mind that content and expression should be family-friendly, and the story must connect with the overall theme. A continuous rotation of tellers will perform throughout the farm from 1 to 5 p.m., offering bales of laughter and stories from near and far. The festival’s signature close, the Lightning Round, closes out the day when tellers will share two-minute tales in quick succession, from 5 to 6 p.m.

River Days, Mercer County Park Commission and D&R Greenway Land Trust

The Mercer County Park Commission and D&R Greenway Land Trust will celebrate River Days on Saturday, Sept. 15, from noon to 3 p.m. This free family-friendly event will take place at the Tulpehaking Nature Center with trail activities, arts and crafts, a raffle, and a neighborhood cookout on the back lawn of the nature center.

The Tulpehaking Nature Center will host lunch from noon to 3 p.m. Free hamburgers and hot dogs will be available to the first 100 visitors; additional meals will be available for purchase. Families can enjoy weaving with reed grasses, examining marsh plants under a microscope and taking their picture with an air boat. There will even be a chance to win a bike or kayak by entering a free raffle.

The Tulpehaking Nature Center provides programs and exhibits that encourage visitors to explore the cultural, historic and natural resources of the Abbott Marshlands. Owned by the County of Mercer and operated by the Mercer County Park Commission, the Tulpehaking Nature Center is located at 157 Westcott Ave. in Hamilton and is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. For more information about the nature center, programs and schedule of events, go to www.mercercountyparks.org

"Dinner" and a Movie: A fundraising event for The Arts Council of Princeton

"Dinner" and a Movie will kick off at 5:00 pm with the opportunity to test out the latest in virtual reality technology by Immersive.XR! Then stay for the live band "Dinner" starting at 6:00 pm with some tasty treats from D'Angelo Italian Market and Olives Caterers. And finally, David Lynch: The Art Life will play at 7:15 pm.

The Dryden Ensemble's Autumn Benefit ‘A Journey through Italy’

This intimate chamber concert, at Westland Mansion in Princeton, features actor Jennifer van Dyck and Dryden's chamber musicians as they travel through time to 17th-century Italy.
