Birding Field Trip, Washington Crossing Audubon Society

Free, public birding trip with Washington Crossing Audubon at Mount Rose Preserve

Join Washington Crossing Audubon Society at 8:00 AM on Saturday, October 28 for a free, public birding trip led by Juanita Hummel and Sharyn Magee at the Mount Rose Preserve. The Preserve consists of 387 acres of meadows, shrub land and forest. We will be looking for late fall migrants amongst this diversity of habitat.

Directions: From Rosedale Road,turn right on Carter Road and continue approximately ¾ mile to the entrance on the left. Continue to the parking lot. For more information or in case of inclement weather contact Brad Merritt up to 10 PM the night prior at (609) 921-8964.

The Origins of Halloween Night Hike, Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed

Join us on a journey through the woods on a crisp autumn night. You will follow your guide on a trail of glowing Jack O' Lanterns; along the way you stop to meet the characters in an Irish Folktale that unfolds along the path.  The founders of New Jersey's Original Jack O' Lantern Night Hike are bringing their 30-year tradition to a new home at the Watershed.

While other Halloween programs are designed to frighten, our goal is to educate and enchant. Guided hikes begin every 15 minutes; last hike begins at 8:15 p.m.  Space is limited in each hike; pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Call to reserve your hike time.

Masquerade Ball, D&R Greenway Land Trust

D&R Greenway Land Trust’s storied Masquerade Ball takes place on Saturday, October 28. From 6:30 to 11 p.m., expect a candle-lit night of seasonal-themed fun, farm-fresh local foods and music. Dancing shoes and costumes welcome. Prizes awarded for best mask, earthiest costume and carved pumpkins. This Masquerade Ball unfolds upon the 52-acre Muscente property in Hopewell, first to be preserved through D&R Greenway’s new Revolving Land Fund.
