Birding Field Trip, Washington Crossing Audubon Society

Join Washington Crossing Audubon Society at 8:00 AM on Saturday, April 1 for a walk along the paths of the Pole Farm with Sharyn Magee to look for grassland birds and raptors. Directions: From Manors Corner shopping center on Pennington-Lawrenceville Road take Keefe Road toward Princeton for 1.1 miles to the bend where it meets Cold Soil Road. At that bend, the entrance is on the left near the barn.

How to Research the History of Your Old House, Hunterdon County Historical Society

The Hunterdon County Historical Society announces an afternoon workshop in cooperation with Hunterdon County history blogger, researcher and house history expert Marfy Goodspeed on Saturday, April 1 from 11:00- 12:30 pm.   The workshop will be held at the Society’s headquarters and library located at 114 Main Street in Flemington.

Marfy Goodspeed is known for her Goodspeed Histories, a New Jersey history and genealogy website and for her business, Goodspeed House Histories.  A resident of Hunterdon County since 1976, Marfy has been exploring and sharing the County’s history for decades. The session will cover how to begin the research of your home with the resources that are available at the Society’s library in addition to other regional repositories.

The workshop is free for members of the Historical Society with a $5.00 program fee for non- members. Registration is required as space is limited.  Participants may register by calling or e-mailing the Hunterdon County Historical Society @ or 908-782-1091.

This year we are also participating in the Civil War Trust's Park Day, a nationwide clean-up day, and you will receive a free T-Shirt! This year we will have three teams – each with a team leader: Team – 1: Removal of porcelainberry, an invasive species, from dogwoods near the colonnade. Team – 2: Cutting invasive bamboo. Team – 3: Clearing encroachment on the path to the Friends Meeting House. For young and old.

We have age-appropriate gloves, saws, clippers, and pruning shears to put at your disposal. Please bring your own too. Put a "spring" in your step and join us at the Clarke House in the Park!
