Kathleen Jamhoury is the interim director of educational and youth ministries for Covenant. The responsibilities of this half-time position covers the full range of the Christian education program, oversight of the youth programming, and the leadership of the Senior High Youth Group. Kathy graduated from New Brunswick Theological Seminary in 1995 and has been a candidate for ministry since 1996. Her experience in education and church ministries is broad. She has a high school teacher certificate in most subject areas including special education. She currently substitutes in a multiple handicapped class. Until January she worked as the interim junior high pastor at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River. She has worked with youth and adults in the Hunterdon County jail in counseling and worship, serves on the board of education in Frenchtown, developed Open Arms Youth Group and provided leadership to both junior and senior high youth in a community based fellowship program. She has provided officer training events and leader training events for the Presbytery of New Brunswick, provided pulpit supply to many churches without pastors, organized the Presbytery mission trip to Washington for the last two years, and served on he Nurturing Ministry Committee of Presbytery. Kathy loves hands-on work with all ages. She has led groups to soup kitchens and to the backwoods towns in need in West Virginia. She has organized and run vacation bible schools, teen mentoring programs, women's support groups, confirmation classes, bible study for all ages, lock-ins and CROP walks, and developed and run intergenerational workshops in Christian education. Kathy brings much skill
and experience to her ministry at Covenant. Kathy will be commuting
from Frenchtown where she lives with her husband and four teenagers.
Besides her vast church experience, she also is a great cook and loves
to bake bread, and garden. She has had special training in clowning
with McClowns Entourage and truly knows how to "clown around." She
has a background in training as a girl scout leader with special training
certificates in day, cabin and tent camping.
When graduating from New Brunswick Seminary she received awards in Old
Testament studies and an award in preaching.
