| Dear Members and Friends:
It was such a pleasure to see those of you who attended CJNBW's Open House on Oct. 14th. I hope that you enjoyed the informative presentation, by Ms. Carine Toussaint-Ramos, as much as I did. For those of you who couldn't make it, picture this: Carine was dressed in a striking red and gold outfit from Vietnam, one of the many national dresses she purchased on her tour. She took us through several of the ten countries she visited during her Voyage at Sea, reading from journals which she kept for each day in each country. Her descriptions were vivid and insightful, and you could almost see the sights and the people! She also displayed many artifacts from this trip, including articles of clothing which were modeled by her sister and her mother. Our only disappointment was that |
we ran out of time and would love to ask
Ms. Ramos to speak again at one of our regular monthly meeting.
The other highlight of the evening was the presentation of a CJNBW Book Award, to Ms. Miranda Roach, a student at the College of New Jersey. The presentation was made by Ms. Noreen Lois Duncan and the scholarship committee. We wish Ms. Roach success in her studies and our committment to helping women remains intact. Our next regular meeting is scheduled for November 13, at Hickory Corner Library and we look forward to seeing you all there. Please take care of yourselves and your families and pray for peace as we move through these troubled times. Sincerely,
|
