Dear Sisters:
I do
hope everyone had a wonderful summer and are looking
forward to the beautiful fall season.
Thanks
to the previous officers who served us the past two
years – we gratefully appreciate all the hard work
that you’ve done for the Network. Thanks also to
our newly elected officers who have agreed to serve
for the next two years (Illean, Jessica, Lois,
Louise, Ruth and Shirley).
Welcome to another new, and I hope, exciting year
in the life of CJNBW where we continue to give of
our time to the community and students area- wide.
As the
new President, I ask that you be patient as I settle
in. Sitting in the “hot seat” always seem easy
until you are there. As I stated at the Steering
Committee meeting on Aug. 24, please do not hesitate
to let me know if I’m doing anything incorrectly and
also remember that we can agree to disagree.
Everyone should feel free to give an opinion, and
others can disagree in a constructive manner.
We are
looking for new ideas to increase membership and
suggestions for guest speakers, so bring your ideas

meetings.
.I
feel we need to take some time, every once in a
while, to energize ourselves, thereby being in a
position to give more to others.
Some
suggestions to consider for pure relaxation: a few
bus trips; afternoon tea at the Chauncey Conference
Center. These trips would not be in lieu of our
meetings or other CJNBW functions. We can call them
“extra curricular” activities. We will discuss this
further if the membership wants to pursue the ideas.
We
have been asked to assist with tutoring and
mentoring for Hightstown High School students and
we have invited Merion Wells of the HHS to speak at
our regular meeting on Sept 13th to explain the
details of how members can become involved in these
programs. She has sent us some forms which are to
be completed and returned to her ASAP so that she
can show the superintendent the level of commitment
from this network.
Another item for discussion is to compile the
written history of CJNBW, and the goal would be to
have this done in 2 years. We have a lot to think
about.
