PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Dear Sisters:

Our first annual Golf Outing, on October 7th, was a success, if we are to go by the early reports.  We all thank you, Jessica, for chairing the team and ensuring that the many details were taken care of.  Thank you, also, to the other members of the committee, Joyce and Ruth, for keeping us on task, at every step of the way.  Thanks, Illean, for supporting the committee and sitting outdoors in the sun with the bees all day.  Thank you, Louise, for the imaginative decorations for the dinner.  The golfers seemed to have really enjoyed the day, the dinner, the camaraderie, Mr. Bill Daughtry’s presence, the awards, and the generosity of the sponsors, particularly, Mr. Stanley Hunt of Legg-Mason.  If you missed this year’s outing, you will have to register early for next year’s as we are sure to have a crowd!

This is a good start to our year, and the outing will contribute to our scholarship

funds.  We continue our work, supporting high school graduates and mature college students who need our support as they struggle to attain their educational goals.  This is work of which we should be proud!  Because of the Golf Outing, we have postponed our annual Open House, at which we present the scholarships, to next spring.  This is a first for us, but we want to ensure that that event is as carefully planned as it always has been.  Keep an eye on the Calendar for the date.

Speaking of the Calendar, there are a number of exciting events that the Steering Committee has scheduled.  The first is the Pilates demonstration and workshop at the October meeting.

See you at the meeting!

Best,

Noreen Lois
