PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Dear Sisters

Unfortunately, the response to the questionnaire was minimal, so at the June 9th meeting, we will have to make a final decision regarding CJNBW's future.  Frankly, I must admit it doesn't look good and I will also have to admit that after 28 years, we may be at the end of our long journey.

So, I invite you to attend our meeting on Tuesday, June 9th, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hickory Corner Rd. Library.  This would ordinarily be our last meeting until re- grouping in Sept.

Our Hightstown High scholarship/book award of $1,000 will be presented to Ms. B. Downs at the Awards Night on Wed., June 10th at the High School.  We

congratulate Ms. Downs and her proud parents and we indeed wish her a very bright future.  Her application for the award is very impressive and you can see it at our June meeting.

If we must come to the end of the line, I will be saddened, however, unless we have some new members and change our focus, I realize that we will close the door to what I feel was a very successful run.  Things change and we must let go even if reluctantly.  Maybe some other set of ladies will decide to form a black women's group in the area.

Have a very wonderful summer.

Take care.

Joyce

TIPS for June, 2009

Breath Deodorant:  For a surefire homemade remedy for bad breath, gargle with a solution of 1 teaspoon baking soda to 1/2 glass of warm water.  At a restaurant, eat the parsley, and wash it down with a big gulp of water--swishing around a bit to get the parsley flakes off your teeth.  Parsley is a natural breath cleanser, and nutritious, too.

Cabbage: To kill cabbage-cooking smell,  try one of these: 1) Add a splash of vinegar to the cooking water; 2) Drop a whole walnut into the boiling water, shell and all

Identity Theft - Reminder -  If you ever become a victim of identity theft, contact your local police, Federal Trade Commission (800) IDTHEFT), Social Security Administration (800)269-0271), and the fraud units at the three major credit agencies--Equifax at (800)525-6285; Experian (888) 397-3742 and TransUnion at (800) 680-7289

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS
 IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS:

Our continued best wishes are sent to the following:  Louise's uncle; Kevin (who's now at Water's Edge Nursing Home) and Regina; Illean's brother, Bill, Lorna's mother, and Ruth's mother-in-law. Also Louise and Walter.

It is our intention to remember all who are ill, lost a loved one, and congratulate members and their families when achievements are made. However, you must let Lois know so mention can be made in the Newsletter.

No matter how you feel, if possible, get up, dress up and show up.  You may end up having a better day.

Each night before you go to bed, complete the following statements - "I am thankful for..........";  "Today I accomplished............".

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
