PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Dear Sisters:

I wish every member of CJNBW, your families and friends, the very healthiest and happiest of New Years as we embark on the Year 2006  May all your dreams and New Year’s resolutions be fulfilled.

Our Christmas party was a success, thanks to members and friends.  Everyone seemed to have had a wonderful afternoon.  Ladies, you did a terrific job contributing to the delicious food on our menu.   Lois delivered the toiletries to the Crisis Ministry and I thank everyone who brought donations for this effort.

Also, thanks to those who made donations to assist the Katrina evacuees who now reside in Trenton.  Items collected were delivered to The Rev. Alice Parker’s Lifeline Emergency Shelter, Inc.

I look forward to working with the membership in trying to improve CJNBW and continuing our long journey together.  We will celebrate our 25th   anniversary this year which is quite a milestone.

We have some very busy months ahead including Black History Month, our Annual Open House when Book Awards are given to women who attend college; and in late May or early June (exact date to be determined) we have our “Woman of the Year “ luncheon.  We will also give two Book Awards to high school students, preferably from our local high school.

Happy New Year to all!!!!!!

Joyce

TIPS

Cleaning Mirrors:

Remove spots with a homemade glass-cleaning solution of 2 cups water with 1 cup isopropyl rubbing alcohol (70%) and 1 tablespoon household ammonia.  Pour into a clean pump-spray bottle;

OR For a fast cleanup, pour a bit of vinegar on a paper towel and wipe.

To get rid of hairspray residue, rubbing alcohol will do the job.  CAUTION: Always put cleaning product onto a clean cloth and then apply to mirror; that way you can keep the cleaning product away from the frame so it’s not damaged.

DONations

Members provided Christmas gift bags of toiletries, which Lois delivered to Crisis Ministry.  Also, donations to assist the Katrina evacuees who now reside in Trenton were delivered to The Rev. Alice Parker’s Lifeline Emergency Shelter, Inc.
