President's Message
Dear Members and Friends:

The days are getting longer, and  flowers are in bloom, which means that spring is here!  Like me, you must be happy to see the end of this severe winter and are ready for a new beginning.

At the next regular meeting on April 8, CJNBW will be preparing the slate of officers who will serve for the next two years.  We would like to see all members at this meeting and especially any member who would like to be nominated to serve on the Steering Committee.  Voting will be done at the May 13 regular meeting.

I am delighted to advise that CJNBW’s Woman of the Year for 2003 is Ms. Ondina Jeffers.  Those of you who have worked with Ondina know of her many accomplishments and service to the community.  She deserves to be recognized.  The Network will be honoring her at our annual  function on May 18, 2003.  A flyer with the details will be distributed shortly.  Please mark your calendars!

Please note that due to scheduling conflicts at the Hickory Corner Library, the APRIL 8, meeting will be held in a different room from our usual spot.  Just inquire once you arrive.

HAVE A VERY HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER!

Sincerely,

Ruth Rainford Timins

Steering Committee Corner
This Committee is made up of the officers of the Network.  We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Twin Rivers Library, 276 Abbington Dr., E. Windsor, NJ.,  (609-443-1880).  Any member can attend these meetings, if so desired.

The Steering Committee met on Tuesday, April 1 at the Twin Rivers Library . The main focus of the meeting was the May 18 Recognition and fund raiser.  Also discussed is the upcoming elections of officers for our coming year.  Please come out and be a part of this process.  We also talked about how we can attract new members, which is an ongoing process.  Ideas are always welcome.  Also on the agenda was the scholarship we are planning to give to one graduating high school student.  We have one candidate, however, if you know of another student, please let us know immediately.  We hope to give a scholarship to a Hightstown High graduating student on their "Award Night" and are working on this.

CLOTHING COLLECTION

Clothing (in good condition and clean, for working women) are always needed by the Urban Women's Center, 1201 W. State St., Trenton ( contact Dir., Doris Williams (609) 989-1925) and Dress for Success, (also known as Suitably Dressed), 640 S. Broad St., Trenton (contact Mary - 989-6639 - from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.; Mon - Fri).  These organizations assist women who are returning to work and do not have the proper attire for work.  They also need shoes and handbags.  Thank you for your help in this matter.  Your donations will be greatly appreciated. If you have large donations, it would be best to contact these agencies and arrange for drop off and to find out if they have the space for large donations. They can use suits for men, also.

WOMEN'S HEALTH 2003 DAYBOOK (published by the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services) can be obtained "free" by calling 1 (800) 994-9662.  When prompted, press 2.  You will speak to someone and provide your name, address and daytime phone number.  It is a very informative book that covers health topics that affect women, along with various medical hot line phone numbers and websites and is also a day planner.

RETIREMENT

Louise Smith's co-workers held a wonderful retirement party on March 20 at the Hyatt Regency, New Brunswick.  Louise's sister came in from Chicago again and Dereck and Roger were also there, of course. A wonderful time was had by all.  I guess we can say Louise is now officially retired, and we wish her the very best.

BEST WISHES & CONTINUED Good Health TO:    Arlene Banks, Hattie Blanchard, Ruth Timins daughter, Nicole, and the mothers of Marcia Duhart and Lorna Jones, and Illean Fussell's brother, Bill.

Our President, Ruth, is up and around, however, we do hope she doesn't try to do too much to soon.

It is our intention to remember all who are ill, lost a loved one or congratulate members and their families when achievements are made.  However, you must let Joyce Abbott (448-4511) know so mention can be made in the Newsletter.

TIPS

Toner Ink - To prevent ink spills from happening in the first place, put the ink cartridge inside a small plastic bag and then pull off the covering strip.  Keep in the bag until you put it in the printer.  Use this hint when removing a cartridge.
