DanceVision Presents Third Annual DanceFest 2012! A Celebration of Dance for All! March 18, 2012

DanceVision, Inc., is pleased to present the third annual DanceFest celebration- DanceFest 2012!. DanceVision is dedicated to sharing a love and appreciation of dance with the community and this event does just that; DanceFest 2012! is open to all and fun for everyone.

Each year, DanceVision seeks to expand the program of events at DanceFest, providing a variety of performances and lessons. “DanceFest is really about showcasing many different types of dance, experiencing the music and movement associated with each form, and making dance accessible to everyone in the community,” says DanceVision Board member Cadence Bowden. “That is what the event is about, and it exemplifies DanceVision’s mission.”

As part of DanceVision’s commitment to outreach and sharing our love of dance with the community, DanceVision extends an invitation each year to HomeFront, a Mercer county–based organization whose mission is to battle homelessness. Children and teens from HomeFront who attend all DanceVision events free of charge, were present at the first DanceFest in 2010 and are looking forward to their third year of attendance. “There is no way that we are missing this! The Kids absolutely love this event every year and then they talk about it for months afterwards,” says HomeFront Children and Youth Coordinator Brian Helmuth. “Thanks again for always thinking of us when it comes to your events and shows. With such a low budget it is wonderful to get invited to great events like this that don’t cost us anything besides a drive ride over!!!”

The DanceFest 2012! program is packed with more activities than ever before. Children and adults alike can participate in lessons in bollywood, salsa, tap, hip hop, and line dancing. These are always fun for both experienced and novice dancers—everyone joins in! On breaks between lessons, attendees can enjoy face painting, crafts, games, refreshments, and performances throughout the day. Performances will include, among others, a special sneak peek of the original ballet, The Secret Garden, choreographed by Risa Kaplowitz, Artistic Director and Co-Founder of DanceVision, and hip hop performance by the DV8 crew. Whether attendees wish to dance, watch, or play, DanceFest 2012! promises to be a celebration of dance that everyone will enjoy.

DanceFest 2012! will be held on March 18th from 2:30-6:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton, 50 Cherry Hill Rd, Princeton, NJ. DanceVision’s mission is to enrich the community with quality dance experiences, including performances, school residencies, and dance festivals. DanceVision produces two professional-quality ballets each year, featuring the area’s most talented dancers. A not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, DanceVision continues its community outreach efforts through events such as DanceFest and Princeton Dance for Parkinson—an event that encourages people with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers to enjoy movement.
