Active Living by Design
- Dan reviewed the call for proposals (CFP) and the deadlines for filing the grant application.
- The group brainstormed on the establishment of a diverse partnership, a requirement for the grant program. We particularly discussed how to satisfy the requirement for a health care partner.
- Some suggestions: West Windsor Dept. of Public Health, Princeton Medical Center, Twin W First Aid Squad
- Bruce mentioned that after a quick perusal of the CFP, it seemed that it may not be intended to fund infrastructure- a key requirement for our interest in the grant.
- Dan mentioned that there was to be a conference call with the Active Living by Design Program on Dec. 18th, and that we should raise the question about the use of funds.
Note: Ken N. and Bruce took part in the conference call and it was clear from the discussion that this program was not intended to fund infrastructure or capital costs. The funding was "for use in partnership development/enhancement, programs, policies and
communications. Given these restrictions, the Task Force is not interested in applying for this grant at this time.
The National Recreational Trails Program
- Ken C brought the group up to speed on the National Recreational Trails Program application that he was preparing to submit on 12/17/2002 for Phase II of the Millstone River Trail.
- The application is near ready. Several task force members gave Ken their edits of the application.
- The group reviewed the overall concept of the Millstone River Trail
Wyeth Property
- There was a general discussion on the proposed development of the Wyeth Property.
- Bruce, Myra, and Alison had attended the first Rouse Open House on the development.
- There was some concern that Rouse was paying lip service to township residents, and that they did not have West Windsor's best interests in mind.
- Everyone was in agreement that we need to be clear to communicate what we want to Rouse.
- It was suggested that we should have a representative from Rouse come to one of our meetings.
Misc.
- Alison alerted the task force that the township budget is due January 15th. Ken C said that he will contact township officials about including a budget item for signage and striping for bikelanes.
