Minutes from the Sept. 9th, 2004 West Windsor Bicycle/Pedestrian Task Force Meeting

GENERAL BUSINESS

·         Farmer’s Market- Sue, Meg, Arnold, and Arnold’s wife plan to staff an information table at the Farmer’s Market on Sept. 11th.  Volunteers are needed to staff a table at the October 2nd Farmer’s Market.

·         BikeFest- The kick-off meeting of the 2005 BikeFest Committee is on September 14th.

·         October Harvest Festival- Beth Feehan (a member of FOWWOS and one of the originators of the Farmers’ Market) has asked if the Task Force is interested in being involved in an October Harvest Festival.  She suggested collecting old bicycles for give-away or recycling.  The members of the Task Force did not have enough information to discuss this in depth.  We need to find out more about this Festival.

·         Previous Action Item: Discussion with County re: bikelanes on Edinburg Road- There was no progress on this item.  Ken C will follow up with Chris Marion.

·         Previous Action Item: Project List- Ken C informed Jim Parvesse that the Task Force will provide a list of project priorities by the end of the month.

·         Previous Action Item: Feasibility Study- Peter has put a call into the Bicycle Planning Division of the NJDOT to ask about the timing of the feasibility study for the bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Route 1 and is awaiting a response.

 

DISCUSSION ITEMS DURING MEETING

·         Orth-Rodgers status: The next Project Steering Committee will be September 20th at which the Bicycle/Pedestrian Consulting Group, Orth-Rodgers, will present its draft final report and design drawings for the Cranbury/Wallace Road - Route 571 intersection.  Ken and Ken will be in attendance.  Susan and Meg asked if Ken and Ken can report back as soon as possible to help inform the next meeting of the Princeton Junction Neighborhoods Group. 

·         Pedestrian accident on Washington Road- An 18 year old driver lost control of his vehicle and hit an elderly female resident in Penns Neck.

·         Princeton Junction Train Station Walk- The possibility of a public walk through the neighborhoods bordering the train station was discussed.  This would be similar to the walk that was done on April 1st. 

·         North Post Road- Susan informed the group that the County has resurfaced South Post Road from Conover Road to the Boathouse. 

 

Priority List of New Projects for 2005

·         The Task Force has been actioned by the township to come up with a priority list of projects for 2005.  Most of this meeting was devoted to reviewing and prioritizing potential bicycle, pedestrian, and recreational trail projects for the upcoming year.  This priority list will be distributed in the near future after soliciting input from Task Force members.  

 

Action Items:

·         Need volunteers to staff October 2nd Farmers’ Market

·         Report back about the Orth-Rodgers Steering Committee Meeting to Susan and Meg and the rest of the Task Force- Ken and Ken

·         Talk to Beth Feehan in greater depth about the October Harvest Festival-Ken C

·         Send final project priority report to Jim Parvesse- Ken and Ken
