Join this dynamic, versatile baritone vocalist and concert entertainer for a special evening of musical enjoyment followed by dessert reception. Nationally recognized baritone vocalist, Keith Spencer, recently performed his one-person concert experience, Brothers on Broadway – A Celebration of Broadway’s African-American Leading Men with the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey to rave reviews and record-breaking audiences. Brothers on Broadway is a tribute to Broadway's African American leading men, including legends such as Sammy Davis Jr., Cab Calloway, Ben Vereen, Paul Robeson, and Gregory Hines. Music by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Harold Arlen, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Leonard Bernstein, and more.
The newest addition to the series is Lord, Write My Name – From Slavery to Freedom: The Gospel and the African American Experience in Spirituals. Lord, Write My Name is an inspirational blend of African American Spirituals interspersed with narratives, poetry, and letters penned by freed slaves and iconic Black figures throughout history.
Performances from this series have received praise from audiences of every color and demographic. Mr. Spencer had the opportunity to present concert selections on WRTI 90.1FM Philadelphia as part of their LIVE In-Studio Performance Series.
Elsewhere in the Philadelphia-area, Mr. Spencer has performed as concert guest artist for organizations such as the Quakertown Concert Band, Capital Singers of Trenton, Abington Choral Club, and the Choral Arts Guild. He is a highly-acclaimed cabaret concert artist and also appears regularly in various ensembles with the entertainment agency, Jump City Music; including the group that has been dubbed “Philly’s Hottest Big Band,” the Jump City Jazz Orchestra.
Outside the theatrical stage, Mr. Spencer has had the honor of singing concert stage backing vocals for artists such as Roberta Flack, Rosemary Clooney, and Sandi Patty. He appeared opposite Billboard Top 100 artist, Doreen Taylor, in An Enchanted Evening — A Night with Oscar Hammerstein II which debuted in Philadelphia to critical-approval. Mr. Spencer was also selected as featured concert soloist for Paul Robeson’s 120th Birthday Celebration hosted by the Paul Robeson House of Princeton.
