The New Jersey Technology Council (NJTC) has appointed Dr. Patricia C. Donohue, president of Mercer County Community College, in West Windsor, NJ, to join its Board of Directors.  Dr. Donohue will serve a two-year term, replacing Edward Yaw, president of the County Council of Morris.

According to Maxine Ballen, president and CEO for the NJTC, the Board looks forward to Dr. Donohue’s contributions as the sole community college representative.  “The alignment of educational institutions with the NJTC mission is critical.  We want students to attend New Jersey colleges and launch their careers in the state,” Ballen says.  “The NJTC is committed to the continued development of a highly educated technology workforce ready to take on the challenges of the 21st century.”  Ballen notes that the NJTC Education Foundation brings business and academia together to help meet these goals.

According to Dr. Donohue, her new appointment also aligns with Mercer’s goals. “We seek to provide our students with technology skills that will be valued in the workplace and give them an edge in their careers.  My appointment to the NJTC Board will enable me to bring back what I learn from business leaders to ensure that our students are well prepared for the future.”

Dr. Donohue joins the NJTC Board with solid experience in partnering with the technology community.  She was a founding member and officer of the Central Pennsylvania Technology Council, serving as secretary to the board from 1989 to 1992.  She was the recipient of the organization’s Outstanding Service Award in 1993.

Founded in 1996, the NJTC collectively represents almost 900 member companies from various technology sectors and institutions that work together to support their own enterprises while advancing New Jersey's status as a technology leader in the United States.  Among the council’s services are programs on management and marketing strategies, access to financing sources, networking opportunities, advocacy for public policy that promotes economic growth in the state, and recognition of business innovators and leaders.
