   Great Baby Gifts!

By Pamela Caywood

Pam, Bill & Grace

Buying the perfect baby gift has always given me such angst. What should I buy? What color? What size? Classic or mod style? What store? The questions are endless. I think that I have finally put together a list that will help eliminate any gift buying anxiety.

  • Meals for the freezer: this is always a sure hit!
  • Baby sitting for newborn or sibling: give coupons to the new mother to "cash-in" when she needs to rest or run an errand.
  • A music box: a pewter bunny is perfect for baby boy or girl..
  • A hairbrush set: you can find them in silver or a more reasonably priced pewter.
  • Basket of Books: Fill one up with your favorites--Good Night Moon, Hungry Caterpillar, Pat the Bunny
  • Parenting magazine or newsletter subscription: My favorite is a newsletter, Growing Child. Each issue is age specific to what baby should be doing that month. For information, call 1-800-927-7289
  • Gift Certificate: Who doesn't love that?
  • Outfits: I would suggest 6 month size which will get a reasonable amount of wear.
  • White sweater: What every baby needs. Hanna Anderson makes a great one. Plus, they will wrap and ship.
  • Picture Frame: Be creative!
  • Diapers and wipes: You never have enough.
  • Film and developing: New parents can't wait to see their cherub in print. Save the new Mom or Dad a trip to the photo shop.
  • Socks: Look for bootie style (by Carter's) or roll socks (by The Gap). Also you should buy 6 months or bigger, the infant size doesn't last very long.
