The Board has decided to alter our flea market this year and request that neighbors of Federal City Road and the surrounding streets join us for a Garage Sale/Yard Sale in September. The Society will have tables up near the road to join the sale, and we plan to have mums for sale as a fundraiser for ETHPS. We hope to invite vendors back to the front field to join us in 2021.

Morning Walking Club, Lawrence Hopewell Trail

The Lawrence Hopewell Trail Saturday Morning Walking Club will host its first walk since February on the second Saturday of September, the 12th, trekking over the new 500-foot pedestrian bridge at Mercer Meadows to a new stretch of the trail to Old Mill Road. The walk starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Rosedale Lake parking lot.

All participants will be expected to wear face masks and walk socially distanced from each other. Walkers will be divided into groups of 20 or less, should more than that number join the group at 9:30. The walk will be 4.5 miles round trip, with the midpoint being the intersection of Wargo and Titus Mill Road. If rain results in the walk being postponed, a notice will be posted on the website

Free Book Day—Princeton

Building on the recent success of Free Book Days in Pennington and Hopewell, 2020 high school graduate Anna Salvatore, the events' creator, has announced Princeton's version of the free book exchange will take place Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organizers see the event as a way to strengthen community bonds during the coronavirus pandemic.

Anyone who lives in Princeton can place free books on their lawn or curb. Mercer County residents are encouraged to roam Princeton and take whichever books look interesting. The event is free, but registration HERE is encouraged to show people which types of books will be available on different streets.

Autumn Arts Afternoon, WWAC

Join us for a Virtual Autumn Arts Afternoon. Each year the West Windsor Arts Council offers this free, community-wide event to kick off the fall season. Autumn Arts Afternoon is our way of sharing the arts—and the vibrancy of the arts center—with the West Windsor community and beyond.

This year, due to ongoing health concerns, we will not be at our usual location at the Nassau Park Pavilion. However, thanks to ongoing support by the shopping center, we will offer our annual program online through Zoom. Book Jam, Princeton Public Library & jaZams

Things may be different this year, but young readers can still interact with favorite authors and illustrators when Princeton Public Library presents Book Jam on Saturday, Sept. 12, via Crowdcast. Created in collaboration with longtime Princeton Children’s Book Festival sponsor jaZams, Book Jam will be held from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m.

The event features 10 sessions that book lovers of all ages can join throughout the day to ask questions and participate in lively discussions with panels of authors and illustrators. Two sessions will include chances for readers to offer prompts to illustrators who will draw in a “sketch-off.”

Book sales will be handled by jaZams, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the library. Books will include a book plate signed by the author and/or illustrator. Arts Weekend: Plein Air Studio Tour + Fundraiser, Rutgers Nursery

Meet local artists working on-site throughout the nursery. Each will be exhibiting a sampling of work for sale. Artists include painters, a photographer, and a sculptor, as well as contemporary dancers and musicians. Donations accepted for Flemington Area Food Pantry and Delaware Valley Food Pantry.

2nd Annual Trenton River Days

Join us for the 2nd annual Trenton River Days, revised this year as a walk-through event that celebrates the history, culture and recreational benefits of the Delaware River.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 12, local families and community members are invited to South Riverwalk Park near the Trenton Thunder Stadium to enjoy the walk-through festivities.

The first 500 children will receive a take-home Watershed activity kit that includes a small colorful pail, a watercolor paint set, and a mobile featuring fish, crayfish, river otter and a bald eagle - animals that live in and around the Delaware River - to cut out and paint.

The event will also feature free boxed lunches, farm-fresh produce, and COVID-19 prevention supplies. Face masks are required and social distancing standards must be followed.

Trenton River Days is a partnership of The Watershed Institute, Abbot Marshlands, The Alliance for Watershed Education of the Delaware River, D&R Greenway, Mercer County, Mercer County Parks Commission and the City of Trenton.
