Young Patriot’s Day, Princeton Battlefield Society

The Princeton Battlefield Society will bring colonial life, the American Revolution, and the January 3, 1777 Battle of Princeton to life for students at “Young Patriot’s Day” on Saturday, September 21 at the Princeton Battlefield State Park. (The rain date will be September 28.)

Some of the activities include: New Jersey Grey reenactors - drilling, marching, and camp life as well as musket and artillery firing at 11 am and 2 pm., 18th century medicine, ice cream making (and tasting), visits to the Thomas Clarke House, the only remaining major 1777 structure on the battlefield, activities for kids.

Registered “young patriots” will receive gifts. A $10 registration donation per family or group is requested and can be made on our website (www.pbs1777.org). At the event the registration donation will be $15.

Trenton Ciclovia/Open Streets Festival

Trenton Ciclovia/Open Streets Festival is a free, city initiative that closes the streets to cars and opens them to people, promoting healthy living and safe streets in Trenton. For one day, Warren Street (from the Battle Monument to downtown Trenton) will become temporarily car-free for families to run, walk, skate, ride bikes, enjoy active events, and explore the city's streets and history! Ciclovia is an opportunity to transform our streets into a public space for all of the community.

Walk of Hope and Awareness, Carrier Clinic

Hackensack Meridian Health Carrier Clinic will host its annual Walk of Hope & Awareness Day on Saturday, Sept. 21, in support of Carrier’s many programs to treat mental illness and drug addiction. The public is invited to take part in this special day of inspiration.

??To donate or register online visit the Walk of Hope’s official website at www.CarrierClinic.org/events/walk-of-hope or call 908-281-1615 for details. Sign-in for walkers opens at 9 a.m. The 1-mile walk around the Carrier campus begins at 10 a.m. ??Walkers are invited to bring their dogs so long as those pets are on a leash and are vaccinated. Individual participants are urged to aim high and raise more than $109 (one dollar for every year of Carrier’s existence). Walkers can also form teams, inviting others to join.?

Museum Day is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian magazine. This year, Museum Day celebrates the Smithsonian Year of Music, an institution-wide initiative celebrating the Smithsonian's vast musical collections, and the Sarnoff is joining in on the fun with a variety of sound-related museum events to go with our temporary exhibit, In the Groove: A Century of Sound. The museum, and all exhibits, will be open from 11:00-4:00, with a variety of events happening throughout the day.

An Evening with Bollywood, Arts Council of Princeton @ Princeton Shopping Center

Enjoy live dance performances by Uma Kapoor’s award-winning NachNation Dance Team, Mehndi henna tattoos, vendors, and folk arts and crafts. Contribute to a collaborative Bollywood-inspired mural and drop-in for a free yoga workshop with the Integral Yoga Community Center! The evening concludes with a Bollywood Dance Party with DJ Atresh.
