Alzheimer's New Jersey's Annual "Walk to Fight Alzheimer's®"

Sunday October 22, 2017
8:30 AM

Educational Testing Service, 660 Rosedale Rd, Princeton, NJ 08540

Alzheimer's New Jersey, formerly known as the Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, kicks off its "Walk to Fight Alzheimer's" event this fall at locations in Ocean, Hudson, Mercer and Bergen Counties. The walk is the largest event for the organization to raise awareness and funds to support local programs for those impacted by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias in New Jersey. One hundred percent of the funds raised by Alzheimer's New Jersey support Garden State individuals and families.

Alzheimer's New Jersey is a nonprofit organization not affiliated with a national charity whose mission is to provide support, assistance and information to individuals with Alzheimer's disease and dementia and their caregivers in New Jersey.

Each event starts at 8:30 a.m. with registration and light breakfast. T-shirts will be distributed to all participants who raise a minimum of $50. There is no fee to register.

Walk to Fight Alzheimer's teams are made up of families, friends, and co-workers who come together to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's New Jersey programs and services, as well as research. Corporate, company and individual sponsorships are welcome. Last year the walks raised more than $750,000 and Alzheimer's New Jersey expects some 10,000 walkers this year. Visit to learn more.

2:00 PM

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Kelsey Theater, Mercer Community College, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor, 609-570-3333
2 p.m.. $20.,

Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, this daring production by The Pennington Players sets the classic tale of love, vengeance, and compassion to one of the most sweeping scores ever written for the stage.  It’s the only stage collaboration between two masters of American musical theatre: Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast) and Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin).  Get swept away in this rather grown-up tale of Quasimodo and the beautiful gypsy, Esmerelda. Rated PG13

Fall Foliage Walk, Kingston Greenways Association

Sunday October 22, 2017
2:00 PM

Kingston Greenways Association and Kingston Historical Society co-sponsor this leisurely walk, led by railroad historian John Kilbride. We will start at the Mapleton Preserve/D&R Canal State Park headquarters building and head out along the former Camden & Amboy Railroad right-of-way toward Railroad Avenue. Continuing across Ridge Road as far as the turn to the Cook bridge, we'll retrace our steps, roughly following the former Kingston Branch/Rocky Hill Railroad right-of-way to end at the Kingston Lock-tender's House.

The Lock-tender's House will be open to participants at the end of the walk, where there will be a small exhibit on the "Railroads of Kingston" as well as Paul Kayne's study models of Kingston lock and the "A" frame bridge (once at Kingston). For more information, visit

The event is free, and all are welcome, but RSVPs are appreciated to ensure a sufficient number of handouts. Please email (use "RR Walk" as the subject) if you plan to join us:
