December 2020 Virtual Events List for Children - MCLS

MCL's library branches are now open to the public with a hybrid service model, limited occupancy, services, and hours of operation. Please see www.mcl.org for more details. At this time, our Hollowbrook branch will be participating in Curbside Pick-Up only. Go to the Hollowbrook Branch page on our website for more information. 

We will continue to offer virtual programming through a combination of prerecorded videos, online programs and contests, live virtual events, and some limited outdoor events at our branches. Check out what we have planned on our online event calendar.

Bilingual Storytime w/ Miss Liz

Tuesdays, December 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29, 10:00 - 10:30 AM

Learn English & Spanish through interactive children's activities led by MCLS' Youth Services Librarians. Bilingual Storytime includes more than stories. Weekly videos include nursery rhymes, crafts, games, and more! Suggested for children ages 2 & up. 

 

Aprendan inglés y español a través de actividades interactivas para niños dirigidas por las bibliotecarias de MCLS. La hora de cuentos bilingües incluye más que cuentos. Los videos semenales incluyen rimas, canciones, actividades, juegos y más. Recomendado para niños de 2 años y mayores.

Middle Grade Book Club

Friday, December 4, 3:30 - 4:00 PM

Please join our Middle Grade Book Club as we read and discuss many exciting and interesting books. Watch Miss Susan's video when it goes live at 3:00 p.m. to learn about the author and books to be discussed this month. Then join Miss Susan for a live program on Thursday, December 17 at 3:00 p.m. (registration required) to discuss this author's work and do a related activity. Recommended for Grades 3 through 5.

Stories & Songs w/ Santa

Santa's coming to...your device! Watch his YouTube video filmed at the North Pole. Enjoy a Christmas tale and some carols told and sung by St. Nick himself!

This program is for families and children of all ages. Start the holiday season off right with a virtual "visit" from Santa. Sponsored by the Hightstown Library Association.

Children's Author Study

Drive-Up Visits w/ Santa

Thursday, December 10, 10:30 - 11:30 AM

(Snow/rain date for this program is Tuesday, December 15.)

Kids of all ages are welcome to come to the Hickory Corner Branch anytime between 10:30am-11:30am for a safe way to tell Santa your Christmas wishes from the warmth of your car. Children will receive a candy cane and take home craft after their visit with Santa.

We will be providing a safe environment by strictly adhering to social distancing guidelines. Please note the following:

  • We ask you stay in your car.
  • Adults and children over age 2 must wear masks when it is your turn to talk to Santa.
  • The library will not be open to the public at this time, so there will be no access to bathrooms. Please plan accordingly.

Registration is required. Please complete one registration for the entire family that will be attending in the same car.
