High School Placement/Scholarship Test Dates, Villa Victoria Academy

Make-up Scholarship Test Date November 11, 2023, 8:45 AM - 12:15 PM

High School Placement Test/Scholarship Test for incoming freshmen will be held in person at VVA. This test is required for all students applying for grade 9 for fall 2024. Cost is $40. Pre-registration is required for the Scholarship Test. Email cwhite@villavictoria.org or call 609-882-1700 ext. 419 for more information or to register. The test is administered at VVA located at 376 W. Upper Ferry Road, Ewing, NJ 08628

Martian Bike Ride, Historical Society of West Windsor

Join the Historical Society of West Windsor and West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance on Saturday, October 28 at 10AM at the West Windsor Senior Center (271 Clarksville Road) for our Martian Bike Ride! This 5-mile loop will explore the historic 1700s-era West Windsor community of Grovers Mill as well as Orson Welles' infamous 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast that thrust that neighborhood into the national spotlight as the site of an "alien invasion."

Come early to decorate your bike and helmet; costumes are encouraged! Please allot 2 hours for this ride. CLICK HERE for a route map. Helmets are required and riders will be asked to sign a waiver. Ages 12 and above; children must be accompanied by an adult.

Osage Orange Day & Fence Building, Howell Living History Farm

Children's Craft: Osage Centerpiece (11:00–3:00)

Planting and pruning is only finished when the Osage orange hedgerow is ‘horse high and hog tight.’ Help farmers trim these natural fences, and gather fallen oranges for use in the farmhouse basement...where their scent is thought to discourage insects and spiders from taking up residence. Weather permitting, visitors can also help farmers rebuild "snake fences" that line the sheep pasture!

Harvest Festival, Morven Museum & Garden

We are pleased to announce our 2023 Harvest Festival in partnership with the Guild for Early Music.

This festive program will feature ensembles and musicians performing music of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Early American eras. Experience historic music celebrating the autumn harvest with performances scheduled throughout the day. Attendees can visit Morven’s gardens to help harvest vegetables and take part in hands-on activities including “spooky season” crafts, and an instrument “Petting Zoo” with the Guild for Early Music. Dress in your Halloween costume to enter to win special prizes! T

he museum will be open for paid admission to explore our newest exhibition, Striking Beauty: New Jersey Tall Case Clocks, 1730 - 1830. Food and hot beverages will be available for purchase. Sourdough Bread Making, Cherry Grove Farm

In this class you will learn how to make sourdough, the oldest form of leavened bread. It is healthier, easier to digest, and contains less gluten than other breads.You will leave with your own dough to bake at home and some freshly milled whole grain flour as well. Class size is limited to 14 people, so sign up early and if the class is full, there will be a new one listed every month hopefully. Looking forward to baking and breaking bread with you!
