Thursday September 28, 2023

Are you in a food rut? Do you need inspiration in the kitchen? Busy schedules often lead to having the same meals day in and day out for ease and convenience. Jill will touch on meal planning and food prep hacks in an effort to jazz up your kitchen table. As always, Jill will offer menu ideas, cooking techniques and share a delicious recipe to sample.

Historical Fiction Book Group: Trinity, HSP

Thursday September 28, 2023
6:30 PM

Get immersed in the world of a historical time and place, and then engage with a scholar to learn the “real” story. At meetings of the Historical Fiction Book Group, scholars participate in discussions of the fictional elements and the nonfictional context of selected books.

This virtual session (via Zoom) features Louisa Hall’s Trinity, where a set of characters bears witness to the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, from a secret service agent who tailed him in San Francisco, to the young lover of a colleague in Los Alamos, to a woman fleeing McCarthyism who knew him on St. John. As these men and women fall into the orbit of a brilliant, yet mercurial, mind at work, all consider his complicated legacy as they uncover deep and often unsettling truths about their own lives.
