Soil & Light: A Poetry Event at The Farminary

Friday September 15, 2023
7:00 PM

Acclaimed poets Camille Dungy and Tess Taylor are coming to Princeton next week for a celebration of creativity and the land.

Dungy's latest book, SOIL: The Story of a Black Mother's Garden, revels in the pleasures and vexations of tending the earth, while bringing to light the traumas and overlooked qualities of gardening while Black. She shows us how careful attention to what grows, and how we accompany flourishing, might yield not just delicious and delightful gardens, but good theology. In Leaning Toward Light: Poems For Gardens & the Hands That Tend Them, Taylor has assembled the brightest voices in contemporary poetry – including Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Ada Limon, and Ross Gay – to sing of flowers and failures in and beyond the garden. In addition to the Friday night reading and reception, you'll find two different writing workshops you can participate in, honing your creative skill alongside award-winning writers.
