Wednesday December 7, 2022
3:30 PM

3:30, 6:30, 8:30pm

Princeton Theological Seminary is thrilled to welcome the public back to our annual Carols of Many Nations services in the Seminary Chapel. These services will feature seasonal readings in many of the languages represented in our community, including Arabic, French, Ogworok, Italian, Kachin, Malayalam, Mizo, Swedish, and Ukrainian.

The Chapel Choir will sing Christmas songs in many languages including German, Indonesian, Korean, Spanish, and Yoruba. In addition to some traditional carols, the congregation will join the choir in singing some less familiar fare such as the poignant “Hunger Carol” composed by Shirley Erena Murray (New Zealand) and I-to Loh (Taiwan) and the newly composed “Tres Guajiros” (Three Peasants) by Cuban American composer Tony Alonso. One choral highlight of the evening will be the Yoruba song “Betelehemu,” (Nigeria) led by student conductor Otis Byrd Jr. and accompanied by a resident ensemble of drummers. All three services will conclude with caroling on the Seminary quad.

Wednesday Night Out: The Lenape and Their Ancestors in Hopewell Valley

Wednesday December 7, 2022
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

The Hopewell Theater, 5 South Greenwood Ave, Hopewell, NJ 08525

American Indians have lived in the Hopewell area for at least 9,000 years. Volunteers and an intern have recently completed cataloging the approximately 2000 Indian artifacts in the Hopewell Museum collection. Much of the material was donated to the Museum by local collectors. Through the study of these artifacts, together with other types of record, including historical sources, we are learning more about the ways of life of the people who lived here for so long. This event is cosponsored by the Hopewell Valley Historical Society and the Hopewell Museum.
