Bird Walk on the D&R Canal

As thousands of birds wing north in their annual migration, the volunteer support group for the Delaware and Raritan Canal, the D&R Canal Watch, will sponsor a walk 8 a.m. Sunday, May 8, to see and hear some of them.The free walk will be led by veteran birders and Canal Watch members Barbara and George Dawson. The walk will start at the historic Van Wickle House off Easton Avenue at the foot of DeMott Lane in Franklin Township (1289 Easton Ave., Somerset, for GPS location). No registration is necessary. Annual Trenton Kennel Club Dog Show

The Trenton Kennel Club returns to Mercer County Park for their annual dog show. Different exhibits and vendors will be available for visitors to enjoy. Patron dogs will not be allowed inside the event grounds. For more information please click here to visit their website. There will be a $5 per car parking fee. Event is held rain or shine.

Milanov & Jackiw Concert, Princeton Symphony Orchestra

Virtuoso violinist Stefan Jackiw performs Korngold's lush concerto accompanied by the PSO. Maestro Milanov conducts the orchestra through works by Mendelssohn and celebrated composer Gabriela Lena Frank.

Sunday Poetry Reading, Princeton Makes

Princeton Makes, a Princeton-based artist cooperative, and Ragged Sky Press, a local publisher focused on poetry, will host a Second Sunday Poetry Reading on Sunday, May 8 at 4:00 pm. The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center.

The May 8 reading will feature Rachel Hadas and Kevin O’Shaughnessy. Their readings will be followed by an open mic available to up to 10 audience members who would like to read their original poetry. Poems reflecting Mothers’ Day are encouraged.
