Pride in Context, How to be a LGBTQIA+ Ally, PSRC

Many of us have LGBTQIA+ children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends, and desire to be a better ally and show love and support in a way that is meaningful and appropriate. At the conclusion of this workshop, you will increase your knowledge of LGBTQIA+ PRIDE, examine American history of LGBTQIA+ PRIDE and its relationship to oppression and advocacy, and explore ways to support LGBTQIA+ people as a straight or cis-gender ally.

Brent Satterly, MSS, PhD, LCSW, received his masters of social service from Bryn Mawr College School of Social Work and Social Research in 1995 and his doctorate in human sexuality education from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004. With over twenty-five years of clinical and educational experience as a Pennsylvania licensed clinical social worker, he is a full professor of social work at Widener University’s Center for Social Work Education. He teaches family therapy, human sexuality, and education courses in the BSW, MSW, and PhD Programs.

Musical Tots, Princeton Public Library

Children ages 3-5 are invited to experience music through books, movement, rhythm and improvisation. Explore and experience the piano each Wednesday with story time selections and introductory piano skills in this six-week series.

Advance registration is required and limited to 20 children, ages 3-5 years accompanied by parent or adult caregiver. Registration will open one week before the scheduled program date.

?Series is led by pianist and educator Kristin Cahill, a faculty member at The New School for Music Study.

Concert, Boheme Opera NJ, Monroe Township Library

Boheme Opera NJ (“Boheme”), one of the oldest opera companies in New Jersey, will be continuing its lecture/performance series at Monroe Township Library on May 4 and 18. Both productions will feature a trio of rising opera stars, accompanied by pianist and Boheme Opera NJ Managing Director Sandra M. Pucciatti, performing favorite selections from the operetta and opera repertoire.

On May 18 at 1:00 pm, “One Fine Day - Treasures from Puccini” will fill the hall with some of the most iconic and often-performed arias and duets from the operatic pen of Giacomo Puccini, including selections from “La Boheme,” “Madama Butterfly,” “Tosca,” “Turandot” and others, featuring soprano Jacqueline Quirk, tenor Jeremy Blossey and baritone Charles Schneider.

Medicare Workshop, Princeton Public Library
