Preschool Nature Class, The Watershed Institute

Nature’s soundscape is like the perfect song. Join Watershed Educator Steph Silva as we take a moment to sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of nature. We'll be learning about why animals make the sounds they make. Classes generally include a lesson on the topic of the day, followed by a hike, art activity, and game.

Ages 3-5. In-person program preregistration and adult attendance required. Dress for the weather.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations received at least 48 hours in advance are eligible for a refund, if applicable. Please let us know if you cannot attend; we may be able to offer your space to someone else. If the Watershed Educator cancels the event due to dangerous weather conditions a refund will be available. 


Outdoor Storytime at Princeton Shopping Center, Princeton Public Library

“R.A.D. Senior Personal Safety Introduction” (In-Person at PSRC’s Poor Farm Road Location)

R.A.D. for seniors is a nationally recognized program aimed at improving personal safety for older adults. This session will offer personal safety and awareness tips and strategies and will include a basic self-defense component. Please dress in comfortable clothes and sneakers. Deborah Millar, RN, has been employed by Penn Medicine Princeton Health for thirty years. Craig Harley is the associate director of community wellness & engagement and has more than thirty years in leadership and teaching. Both are instructor trainers for R.A.D. Systems Basic Physical Defense Program and have been teaching self-defense programs for many years. Registration required, no fee.

20th Century Black Scientific Renaissance at Bell Labs, Morven Museum & Garden

Spend an evening discovering and discussing the 20th Century Black Scientific Renaissance at Bell Labs with Clyde Bethea, Marian Croak, William Massey and James West. Outstanding achievements of this panel include a combined total of nearly 800 patents, a member of the inaugural class of American Mathematical Society Fellows, 3 members of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, and the co-inventor of the electret microphone, as well as impressive records of mentoring under-represented students to achieve greatness in scientific and technological careers. The museum will be open to see the exhibition and meet the curators from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Doors open in the Stockton Education Center at Morven for the in-person event at 6:00 p.m. with light refreshments available. Q&A for both live and virtual attendees follows the lecture. A Zoom link will be shared on the day of the program.

What the World Needs Now: More Empathy, MCLS Virtual Program

Lynne Azarchi, Executive Director of Kidsbridge Youth Center, will lead this webinar designed for Parents, Caregivers, and Educators about how to nurture empathy in children. She will be joined by Danielle Yansick, Kidsbridge Education Director, who will show how empathy and mental health are related. She will share ways for both children and adults to better regulate their emotions and find joy through the use of calming techniques, simple movements, and ideas for self-care. Lynne Azarchi is the recent author of The Empathy Advantage -- a useful guide for instilling kindness and respect.
