Screening of “Respect”, PPL

The library will screen “Respect,” a biographical musical film about Aretha Franklin. The film follows Franklin’s life and her rise from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to international superstardom. The screening will take place in the Community Room. No registration is required.

Learn About the Freedom on the Move Project, Ewing Branch Library

Citizen-historians, family researchers, and others are invited to join a librarian at the Ewing Branch library to learn about the Freedom on the Move crowd-sourced database. A project of Cornell University and others, it digitizes newspaper ads about runaway slaves to provide access to the stories of self-liberating people, and may also lead to discoveries for those seeking hard-to find information about their enslaved ancestors. You may bring your own laptop to contribute to the database, or just come to learn about this unique resource. Registration required. Call 609-882-3148 or e-mail ewprogs@mcl.org with questions.

Weaving Winter Tales, The Watershed Institute

Popcorn Falls, Kelsey Theatre

If you liked Schitts Creek, you’ll love Popcorn Falls. Maurer Productions OnStage presents this offbeat comedy which was a hit off-Broadway in 2018. POPCORN FALLS is the story of a small town forced into bankruptcy when a neighboring town threatens to turn them into a sewage treatment plant. Their solution? Put on a show! Two actors play 21 characters in this high-energy, laugh-filled 90-minute race to save their beloved town. Recommended for ages 12 and up.
