Free Zoom Lecture: “The Property of the Nation”, Washington Crossing Historic Park
Dr. Matthew Costello, senior historian of the White House Historical Association, will present a free Zoom lecture titled “The Property of the Nation: George Washington’s Tomb, Mount Vernon, and the Memory of the First President” on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1:30 p.m. His lecture will focus on his 2019 book of the same name, which was a 2020 George Washington Prize finalist. Costello’s book explores the evolution of George Washington’s legacy during the early Republic by focusing on his tomb at Mount Vernon. This lecture is sponsored by Washington Crossing Historic Park. It is free, but registration is required at WashingtonCrossingPark.org/events. Zoom login information will be provided upon registration.
