West Windsor Community Farmers Market

Opening Day of the West Windsor Community Farmers Market’s eighteenth year begins Saturday, May 1. To keep everyone safe and distanced, the entrance to the market has changed to 877 Alexander Road through the upper Vaughn Lot. The Market will run each and every Saturday, rain or shine from 9am-1pm until Thanksgiving featuring seventeen farms and twenty artisan food makers and a knife sharpener, all from within fifty-miles of West Windsor. 

Joining the roster this year are three farms: Moonshot Farms, Snapping Turtle Farm, and SpiceBush Farm along with Catalina Empanadas, Pure Indian Foods, River Horse Brewery, Sourland Mountain Spirits, Tea-For-All. Look for more organic produce, East Asian vegetables, beer, local spirits, and grass-fed ghee. Mask wearing continues to be required by all, and hand sanitizer stations are located throughout.

Veggie Basics, Mercer County Master Gardeners

Margaret Pickoff will discuss basic harvesting and handling skills, how to extend your growing season and what to do when your plants stop producing. She’ll cover end of season tasks like mulching, sowing cover crops, and putting the garden to bed. Registration is limited to the first 500 participants. Those who register will receive an email with access to the recorded presentation after it has occurred.

Fiddlin' Day, Howell Farm

Musicians from throughout New Jersey will choose their own "barnyard stage," playing in outdoor settings throughout the day. The public is invited to "jam" with the band on acoustic, stringed instruments – with an opportunity to investigate and try out some traditional instruments. Musician and multi-instrumentalist Dick Devore gives talks at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on different types of traditional music. Bring a mask. Register.

Stony Brook Walking Tour, Historical Society of Princeton

Updike Farmstead, 354 Quaker Road, Princeton

Before there was a “Princeton,” six Quaker families established a community on the fertile ground along Stony Brook. This 2-mile hike explores the lives of the early settlers and the community they established, while following a portion of the trail George Washington took from Trenton to the Princeton Battlefield. Stops include the Stony Brook Meeting House and Burial Ground, walking a portion of the “hidden” back road into Princeton, and a view of the Battlefield.

Starts at the Updike Farmstead, 354 Quaker Road. Tickets are $10. Advanced tickets required – no walk ups will be allowed.

Space is limited to 12 participants. Masks are required for indoor portions of the tour. If participants have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms within 14 days of the tour, we ask that they stay home and contact us for a full refund. Guides are fully vaccinated and only lead tours if they are symptom-free.

On the Road to Victory at Yorktown – The Encampment in Trenton, August 1781 0 - Re-enactment

The Trent House Association hosts an all-day event on Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 10 am to 5 pm, celebrating the 240th anniversary of the Washington-Rochambeau march to victory in Yorktown. This is a free outdoor event with activities suitable for adults and children.

The August 2021 event features re-enactors portraying soldiers from both the American and French armies. Two re-enactor organizations – Le Régiment Bourbonnais and Le Régiment Saintonge – represent French infantry and artillery. Also participating are re-enactors of African American infantrymen of the 1st Rhode Island Regiment and John Lamb's Artillery Company. Demonstrations of military drills and camp life take place throughout the event as well as other family-friendly activities and historical talks. The William Trent House Museum as a site on the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Heritage Trail will be recognized.
