The Launch of Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap, National Museum of African American History and Culture
Free /Online Panelists will include essayists and Executive Committee members who contributed to the content of this groundbreaking anthology. They will meet to discuss the importance of the text in describing the origins of hip hop, its historical and cultural impact, and a behind-the-scenes perspective on its growth. Panelists will explore the importance of the genre as a powerful voice of political movements worldwide, and as the gateway to other realms of expressive culture. This discussion will be moderated by NMAAHC's Associate Director for Curatorial Affairs Dwandalyn Reece.
