American Red Cross Blood Drive, MarketFair

MarketFair is calling on the community to join in supporting those in need through participation in its first American Red Cross blood drive of 2021! As a thank you for helping to make a difference, Tommy’s Tavern + Tap, the newly opened restaurant, bar + pizzeria, has partnered with MarketFair to provide $5 gift certificates to all donors. All COVID-19 health & safety measures will be in place and masks and pre-registration are required.

Panel Discussion of The United States vs. Billie Holiday, National Museum of African American History and Culture

In collaboration with Hulu, the National Museum of African American History and Culture invites you to a virtual panel discussion of the new biopic The United States vs. Billie Holiday. Led by Oscar®-nominated director Lee Daniels, written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks, and starring Grammy®-nominated singer-songwriter Andra Day, The United States vs. Billie Holiday unapologetically presents the icon’s complicated, irrepressible life.

Black Women's Role in the Suffrage Movement

In honor of Black History Month and the recent commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment that gave predominantly white women the right vote, Dr. Chanelle Nyree Rose, Associate Professor of History and Director of the Africana Studies Program at Rowan University will examine the long struggle for suffrage, with a particular focus on race and African American women. Sponsored by the Friends of the Ewing Library, Friends of the Hickory Corner Library, Hightstown Library Association, Friends of the Hopewell Branch Library, and Friends of the Lawrence Library.
