Historic Stony Brook: Gateway to Princeton History examines the lives of Princeton’s early settlers and the community they established, while following a portion of the trail George Washington took from Trenton to the Princeton Battlefield. Stops include the Stony Brook Meeting House and Burial Ground, walking a portion of the “hidden” back road into Princeton, and a view of the Battlefield. Starts at Updike Farmstead, 354 Quaker Road; tickets are $8.

Tickets for all tours can be purchased online at www.princetonhistory.org, Space is limited.

Read and Explore: Getting Ready for Spring, Terhune Orchards

Terhune Orchards Read and Explore Program is our winter education series, following the popular seasonal Read and Pick Program. Our program is about Getting Ready for Spring. We will get ready to wake up from winter and prepare to start gardening. As Saint Patrick’s Day is the traditional day to plant peas and spinach and get the garden ready! The program lasts about an hour and includes a story and educational segment. After story time, each child will plant seeds to take home.

24 Cannons at the Battle of Trenton: Talk & Demonstration, Terhune Orchards

Terhune Orchards welcomes Urban Planner and Trenton City Museum Trustee David Bosted for a hands-on lecture and demonstration. Alexander Hamilton, Col. Hand, and the 24 Cannons at the Battle of Trenton:  The program will follow the movements of all 24 of the cannons on the streets of Trenton during the Battle of Trenton in 1776. The talk will demonstrate why the 18 American cannons — including the two six-pounders commanded by Alexander Hamilton — were decisive in the victory over the Hessians, who had six three-pounders.

Join Mr. Bosted in the Wine Barn for his discussion (45 minutes, approximately the length of the Battle itself), followed by time for questions. Stay to enjoy a glass of wine with fellow history enthusiasts. Free admission, please call to RSVP 609-924-2310.
