Girls on the Run Central NJ Charity 5K

Girls on the Run of Central NJ (GOTRCNJ) will celebrate the end of its 18th season with a 5K run through the streets of downtown Somerville. The Honorable Dennis Sullivan, Mayor of Somerville, will kick off the 5K Race on Sunday November 24, at 11:00 am.

Open to the public, over 2,000 runners and spectators are expected from the five counties GOTRCNJ serves. Since race inception thousands of dollars have been raised as part of the GOTRCNJ Scholarship Fund effort. Net proceeds of the race provide financial assistance to over 500 girls annually to enable them to participate in the program. Run, walk, pledge or cheer on November 24, 2019 in support of the GOTRCNJ Scholarship Fund. Donation Station will be available on race day!

12pm - Season of Light - Season of Light explores the reasons humans are so fascinated with lighting up our lives during the December holiday season. Discover the astronomical meanings behind different seasonal traditions, including the "Star over Bethlehem."

1pm - One World One Sky -J oin Sesame Street’s Big Bird, Elmo and their Chinese friend Hu Hu Zhu on a discovery of the sun, moon, and stars! 

2pm - Dark Universe - Unravel the complexities of the cosmos with Neil deGrasse Tyson as your guide! Plunge into Jupiter’s atmosphere and explore the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy in this spectacular show. 

3pm - CapCom Go! -The Apollo Story - An immersive, historical documentary that showcases the achievements of the Apollo program and what it took to put the first human on the Moon. It introduces a new generation to the immense challenges they overcame and will inspire them to become the explorers, designers, engineers, thinkers and dreamers of the future. Suitable for all ages. This show is a great way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, and a perfect complement to the exhibition “Many Inspired Steps” on view in the Riverside Gallery May 25 through November 10.

American Repertory Ballet's Nutcracker, Union County Performing Arts Center (sensory-friendly performance)

American Repertory Ballet brings the beloved classic Nutcracker to the stage with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, thrilling choreography and a cast of more than 100. A holiday tradition for more than 50 years (1964), American Repertory Ballet’s Nutcracker is one of the longest, continuously running Nutcracker productions in the nation. ARB’s professional company will be joined by select students from Princeton Ballet School to tell the story of a young girl named Clara and how a mysterious gift from her Uncle Drosselmeyer brings about enchanted dreams and fantastical scenes.

Historic Princeton Walking Tour - Bainbridge House

In this musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge is the definition of a miser. He is rich, but completely stingy with his money, and  the exploits the good nature of his employee Bob Cratchit. On Christmas Eve, however, Scrooge is in store for a rude awakening when he is visited by the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley, who informs him that he is going to be visited by three spirits - the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

Fun, fresh and festive, this is the show guaranteed to get the whole family in the holiday spirit.

50 years ago, HAIR was the first rock musical to hit Broadway – the product of the hippie counter-culture and the sexual revolution of the 1960s. And it still resonates today! Hair tells the story of a "tribe" of hippie youngsters living in the East Village of New York during the Vietnam War. They long to change the world as they rebel against their parents and society. The score includes hit songs such as "Let the Sunshine In,"Aquarius" and "Good Morning Starshine."
