Katie Welsh Concert: And Then She Wrote...Songs by Broadway's Female Songwriters

Saturday November 2, 2019
7:30 PM

On Saturday, November 2nd at 7:30 p.m., singer Katie Welsh will present her concert, And Then She Wrote...Songs by Broadway's Female Songwriters, the second program in her Fall concert series at the Arts Council of Princeton. Katie will present an evening of songs by some of Broadway's greatest female lyricists and composers from across the decades, from Dorothy Fields to Betty Comden to Mary Rodgers to Lynn Ahrens to Jeanine Tesori to Sara Bareilles, all of whom broke through barriers to achieve their success and brought important, new, and fresh perspectives to Broadway. Specifically, Katie will explore how these female writers wrote for female characters in shows like Bells Are Ringing, Sweet Charity, Ragtime, Waitress, and others. As always, Katie will provide insights into the songs she sings, and she will also share a bit about the backgrounds of the songwriters themselves. It will be another signature Katie Welsh "informative cabaret."

Tickets are $20 and are available at or for cash at the door. The Arts Council of Princeton is located at 102 Witherspoon Street in Princeton, NJ. The Music & Theater Collective is producing the event; additional information is available by calling 609-915-7889.
