Preschool Nature Classes, The Watershed Institute

Get wild with us as we learn about a variety of nature topics. Each class includes outdoor exploration, stories and a craft. Dress for the weather because we always go outside. Children must be accompanied by an adult. These classes will move to Tuesdays starting in September.

Princeton Farmers Market, Hinds Plaza

Seasonal and organic produce from local farmers, flowers, crafts and a variety of edibles are available through 3 p.m. at this weekly event. Live music from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Co-sponsored by the library and Princeton Farmers Market.

PLEASE NOTE: Sustainable Princeton is now collecting several hard-to-recycle items once each month at the Princeton Farmers Market. New this summer, you may bring printer cartridges and wine corks, as well as several other items. It's important to read details of what is acceptable at Collected items willl be recycled or upcycled.

Blood Drive, Quakerbridge Mall

Recent events have demonstrated the need to always have an adequate supply of blood on hospital shelves. Blood collected before major incidents is what is used when patients arrive at hospitals. Blood that is collected at the time of these events is helpful for subsequent surgeries and restocking shelves. Summer is the most difficult time of year to keep u the blood supply so we encourage donors to take the time to donate now.

Agricola Farm Dinner Series, Chickadee Creek Farm

Chickadee Creek Farm is a certified organic vegetable, flower and herb farm. The farm was started by Jess Niederer in 2010 and is located on part of their family farm. Four generations of their family have farmed in Hopewell Valley, NJ, and the previous generation preserved the land so that it can never be developed. In 2010, when Jess began her own business growing vegetables, she immediately began using organic practices. In July of 2012 organic certification began for the first five acres and as of 2017, 20 acres are fully certified organic.

The Color Line on the Baseball Diamond, Morven Museum & Garden

Join historian and film producer Dr. Lawrence Hogan, Negro league's last team Captain of the Kansas City Monarchs and All Star James Robinson, and poet Kevin Kane for a multifaceted presentation on the complex relationships in "Blackball" during America's era of segregation. Included are clips from Dr. Hogan's documentary Before You Can Say Jackie Robinson: Black Baseball in New Jersey and America and Kevin Kane's rendition of his original poem "K.C. at the Bat," a black version of the iconic "Casey at the Bat." Ticket includes same-day museum admission. The museum will remain open until 6:00 p.m. This program is funded by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
