English Country Dancing, Princeton Country Dancers
On Saturday, April 13, from 8:00 – 11:00 p.m., the Princeton Country Dancers present an English country dance. English Country Dancing was the primary form of social dancing in England and America in the 1600's, 1700's and early 1800's. The music and the dances may be lively, boisterous, elegant, romantic, energetic, driving, or stately. Dances will be led by caller Sue Dupre with live music provided by John Burkhalter on recorder, Judy Minot on keyboard, Paul Morrissett on fiddle, and Paul Prestopino on many stringed instruments. Beginners are welcome, and you don’t need to come with a partner. If you're a newcomer to English country dancing, we encourage you to come to an Introduction to Basics workshop at 7:30 p.m. Dances take place at the Suzanne Patterson Center, 1 Monument Drive, Princeton, NJ. Admission is $11 per person ($5-11 for students and people of limited income). For more information go to https://www.princetoncountrydancers.org/english-country-dance or call 609-844-0459.
