NJ Makers Day, Princeton Public Library

We’re marking New Jersey Makers Day, a statewide celebration of making and maker culture, with events and activities including a building a car for our wacky racers derby, a chance to “meet the robots” with local robotics teams, a special story time and lots of fun items to make and take.

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday Stories with Katey Howes (Story Room)

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wacky Racers and Meet the Robots (Community Room)

2 to 3:30 p.m. – Make-and-Take activities featuring button-making and additional crafts in the CoLab Space and STEAM Studio

Jack Furlong Jazz Trio, 1867 Sanctuary Arts Center

Fourth Annual Empty Bowls Event, The Hightstown Cultural Arts Commission

The Hightstown Cultural Arts Commission will host its fourth annual Empty Bowls on March 23 from 5-8 pm at the Peddie School Cafeteria (Campus Center) in Hightstown. Empty Bowls is an international program that engages participating artists to create and donate handmade bowls in which a simple meal is served to a gathering of caring community members.

Local ceramic artist and Cultural Arts Commission Vice Chair Adam Welch created a limited edition of 300 hand thrown stoneware soup bowls for the event along with 100 additional bowls made by Hightstown High School students. Ticket buyers will select a bowl to fill with a hot meal from Hightstown eateries. Food sponsors include 12 Farms, 4 Seasons Café & Deli, Americana Kitchen & Bar, Fernando’s Grille, Mannino’s 4, Morgan’s Island Grill, Pompier Catering, and Tavern on the Lake. (as of 2/09) - Tickets are 435 - Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Food Pantry at Rise
