Chinese New Year Festival - Plainsboro Public Library

On Saturday, February 9th, at 12:00 PM, talented artist Jun Zhan will hold an art reception for his exhibition of amazingly watercolors in the Art Gallery. At 1:45 PM, we open with a festive dragon dance performed by the fabulous veteran dragon dance team of Huaxia Chinese School at Plainsboro.

It will be followed by music, dance and other Chinese cultural performances in the library’s 1st floor Community Room at 2:00 PM.

Special Embroidery Workshop, Arts Council of Princeton

A fable of young love set against the backdrop of the exploding 1960s music scene – when England launched the little dust-up that became known as The British Invasion. Based on the experiences of Peter Noone, who was just a teenager willing to sacrifice international stardom for the sake of girl he loves, and featuring more than two dozen chart-topping hits from all the best British bands of the era. Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell choreographs and directs.

The Garden State: Where Ideas Grow, Updike Farmstead

M&M’s, solar panels, transistors, flexible film, and Graham crackers are but a few of the useful and unique creations from the minds of Garden State residents. Not to mention the 1,093 patents issued to Thomas Alva Edison. Author Linda Barth will share the history of inventions and innovations that came from the minds of people from the Garden State.

Black Maria Film Festival, James Stewart Film Theater

To kick off its 38th annual tour, the renowned international Black Maria Film Festival will present the Stellar-Award winning films chosen by the jury for the 2019 season in partnership with Princeton University’s Lewis Center for the Arts. Festival Director Jane Steuerwald introduces the program featuring short documentary, narrative, and animated films.

Filmmakers Lynn Tomlinson and Kelly Gallagher will be present to discuss their work. The pre-screening reception starts at 7:00 p.m. at 185 Nassau Street. Both the reception and screening are free and open to the public; no tickets required. Free parking is available behind 185 Nassau Street in Lot #10 on Williams Street in Princeton.
