Riverview Consort Christmas Concert by Candlelight, The Referend Bier Blendery

Wednesday December 19, 2018
7:00 PM

On Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 7:00 PM, the Riverview Consort will perform a Christmas concert by candlelight at The Referend Bier Blendery in Hopewell Township, NJ. The Referend practices the neglected art of waiting, of letting nature run its course, to produce a beer of depth and character inimitable through technological shortcuts or chemical interference. We think that makes it the perfect place to escape the holiday commotion with seasonal music from ages past, performed on period instruments and without electronics or amplification.

We have selected sacred chants, haunting ballads, and exuberant dances that have been used to mark the season for centuries - so the perfect accompaniment is a beer from The Referend, which specializes in the production of spontaneously fermented beers as practiced by ancient cultures.

The Referend Bier Blendery 1595 Reed Rd, Unit 2 Pennington, NJ 08534 $20,  admission (Tickets available online or at the door; cash preferred at the door.)

Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn - Paper Mill Playhouse

Wednesday December 19, 2018
7:00 PM

Nov 21 - Dec 30

In this musical based on the beloved Bing Crosby/Fred Astaire film, Jim Hardy leaves behind the hustle and bustle of showbiz for a quiet life on a Connecticut farm. Jim’s agrarian efforts are a flop, but things start looking up when he falls for a talented schoolteacher, and together they infuse their sleepy rural setting with some Broadway razzle-dazzle. Fresh from a Broadway run, this heartwarming, toe-tapping production features more than 20 classic songs from the Berlin catalog, including “Easter Parade,” “Cheek to Cheek,” “Steppin’ Out with My Baby,” and “White Christmas.”

22 Brookside Drive, Millburn - 973-376-4343 -,  $47-$112.  Through December 30.
