Origins of Halloween Night Hike, The Watershed Institute

Saturday October 27, 2018
6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Come learn about the Origins of Halloween during a nighttime hike on a glowing jack 'o lantern-lit path.

After each group finishes making a Halloween craft at the Watershed Center, they are off with their trail guides following the decorated path. The group makes a half-dozen stops on the hour long program and hear the Legend of Stingy Jack, and meet other Irish folktale characters.

While other Halloween programs are designed to frighten, our goal is to educate and entertain. After the performance, we will roast marshmallows around a campfire. Then we'll head back to the Watershed Center for refreshments and goodies from a bake sale.

The various sessions of the hour long program begin at 6 p.m., with different groups leaving every 15 minutes. The last hike starts at 8:30 p.m. Space is limited so register early to get your preferred time slot. General audience, ages five and older. Dress warmly and get ready to have fun!

Saturday October 27, 2018
6:30 PM

Be a piece of D&R Greenway Land Trust’s preservation puzzle at the 2018 Masquerade Ball on Saturday, October 27, 6 to 11 p.m. Come as native flora, fauna, a force of nature—or just as you are. Enjoy a farm fresh dinner, spirited cocktails and dancing. The event will be held at Deer Run Farm, 189 Woosamonsa Road, Pennington, on the Woosamonsa Ridge Preserve—this is the 300th property preserved by D&R Greenway. Amy and Jay Regan, who preserved their property, are generously hosting the Ball in their barn, faced with stones that come from the property. Guests will be able to watch the sun set over the newly preserved Pennington Mountain.

Everyone is welcome—tickets cost $150 person, sponsorships available. To purchase, please visit or phone 609-924-4646. Your participation supports land preservation in New Jersey.

'A Raisin in the Sun', Kelsey Theatre

Saturday October 27, 2018
8:00 PM

This searing drama tells the story of the Youngers, a black working class family struggling to achieve the American Dream in the face of racial tensions and economic disenfranchisement in 1950s Chicago. All hopes hinge on their next move. Lorraine Hansberry’s drama, the first Broadway play by an African-American woman, changed the face of American theater, and relevant six decades after its debut.
