Day of Dance: The Outlet Dance Project

This family-friendly event, a community favorite, is a truly remarkable afternoon of choreographers who identify or have identified as women sharing their vision through site-specific dance and work created for the stage. The festival, now in its 14th year, celebrates the intersections of visual and moving arts, exploring relationships between sculpture and dance, between place and movement. Featuring indoor and outdoor performances, it is an extraordinary way to encounter the beauty of Grounds For Sculpture. ‘American Idiot’ at MCCC’s Kelsey Theatre

Bringing Green Day’s chart-topping alternative rock album vibrantly to life, this bold rock opera is set in “Suburbia, USA.” It follows a young anti-hero, Johnny, the self-proclaimed “Jesus of Suburbia,” and his two buddies, Will and Tunny, as they attempt to break out of their post-9/11 mind-numbing, aimless suburban existence. The book is by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer, with music by Green Day and lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong. (Parental advisory: This show is rated R.)

"Beethoven for Three, Four and Five", Westminster Conservatory

Westminster Conservatory will present a recital titled "Beethoven for Three, Four and Five" on Sunday, October 7 at 3 p.m. in Hillman Performance Hall on the campus of Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, N.J. The performers are Jill Crawford, flute; Melissa Bohl, oboe; Kenneth Ellison, clarinet; Craig Levesque, horn; Zachary Feingold, bassoon; Ena Bronstein Barton, piano; Hyun Soo Lim, violin; Chika Mimura, violin; Dezheng Ping, violin; Marjorie Selden, viola and Ted McClure, cello. Performers are members of the teaching faculty of Westminster Conservatory.

Admission is free. The program will feature Beethoven's Serenade for flute, violin and viola, Op. 25; Quartet, Op. 18 No. 6 and Quintet for piano, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon, Op. 16.

The History of Public Education in Lawrence Township

On Wednesday, October 10th at 7:00 pm the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System will host former Lawrence Township Historian Dennis P. Waters, for this presentation on the history of public education in Lawrence Township. He will discuss how our public schools coped with rapid suburbanization and a changing society, as well as present a visual tour of all of the Lawrence Township schools, past and present.

This presentation is Co-sponsored by the Lawrence Historical Society. The lecture will take place at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System, located at 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville. Registration is suggested.
