Monroe Township Cultural Arts Commission OPERA LECTURE SERIES with LIVE ARIAS

Lecture Performance: "Puccini as You've Never Heard Him" Presented by Boheme Opera NJ with Jerry Kalstein as lecturer.

Location: Monroe Township Library - 4 Municipal Plaza - Monroe Twp.

This lecture performance will feature a program of Puccini arias and duets from some of the master's lesser know, but still beautiful operas. The program will feature selections from Edgar, Manon Lescaut, La Fanciulla del West, La Rondine, Suor Angelica and others. These operas demonstrate the development of Puccini that would lead to his masterpieces such as La Boheme, Madame Butterfly, Tosca and Turando.

Each lecture performance starts at 1 PM and lasts approximately 1 hour.

Registration is not required.

It is a requirement for almost any online interaction and those who don't have an email address (or have lost their password) have often found themselves at a disadvantage. In this session, we will review the basics of email including: setting up an account, creating a safe password, keeping your email organized, and essential online etiquette. Registration is required by calling Randi, 537-0236. There is a $5 fee for the class, please bring a check made out to Hopewell Valley Senior Foundation.

Rochambeau at Princeton, Princeton Public Library

Dr. Robert Selig, an expert on Rochambeau, will be giving a presentation on the comte de Rochambeau and the French expeditionary force he led through Princeton in August 1781 to help the Continental Army capture Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown. Marching from Phillipsburg, NY, across New Jersey on separate routes, the allied forces united just north of Princeton, followed by the encampment of Rochambeau's army of 5,000 men on the grounds of Morven on August 29-31, 1781. (There is a monument to this encampment on the grounds of Trinity Church). 

This lecture is sponsored by the Princeton Public Library and co-sponsored by the Princeton Battlefield Society, Morven Museum and Garden, and the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route-NJ Association (W3R-NJ) part of the designated National Historic Trail.
