C.A.T.: The Coursing Ability Test (CAT) is an introductory event fashioned after the sport lure coursing. It will provide a fun and healthy activity attractive to many dog owners. CAT is open to all dogs at least 12 months of age that are individually registered with the AKC; recorded in the FSS program; dogs with PAL numbers or dogs enrolled in the AKC Canine Partners program. Note: All dogs (mixed or purebred) can easily become an AKC Canine Partner by registering at the AKC website. Enjoy a day of cheering on your canine!

D&R Greenway Second Weekend Walk, Abbott Marshlands

Guide: Mary Leck. The Bordentown Bluffs, overlooking Crosswicks Creek, are part of the Abbott Marshlands.  This part of D&R Canal State Park was preserved in 1996 by D&R Greenway.  Culturally significant, part of the Abbott Farm National Historic Landmark, the area was first visited by Indians 13,000 years ago and from ~1816- 1842 was owned by Joseph Bonaparte, Napoleon's brother.  We'll see thickets of Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron, look for persimmon and American Chestnut, and enjoy the autumn landscape.  No wet walking as the trail is all upland; note that part is hilly.  Meet at end of Stanton Ave., Bordentown Twp. (Take US-206 south of I-195; take 1st right after Pointe Breeze apartments.  Look for Abbott Marshlands logo; street sign is missing).  Please register: rsvp@drgreenway.org. (Free).

World War I Commemoration Event, Old Barracks Museum

Come to the Old Barracks this Veteran's Day to join the commemoration of the Old Barracks Association's contribution to the World War I effort. Events throughout the day include: 10 am - 12 pm: Artifacts Roadshow - bring your World War I artifacts to have their history assessed and for tips on preservation and storage. Note: monetary values will not be assessed. 12:30 pm: "A Look Back at a Pivotal Moment: Musical Life in 1917 America" Presentation about World War I era popular music led by Dr. Jerry Rife, Professor of Music at Rider University. 2 pm: Presentation about supposed German spy in Tuckerton, Emil Mayer, led by Nicholas Wood, Curator of Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission. Activities for children, such as learning how to stitch and knit.

Special pricing for this event includes re-entry: $10-Adults, $5-Seniors/Students, Free-Children 5 and under/Active & Retired Military/Members of the Old Barracks Association. Parking for this event is free and conveniently located in the small lot directly next to the museum.
