Womanspace’s The Communities of Light Campaign launches every October in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness month. The campaign concludes with a countywide luminary lighting on Monday December 5th, which serves as a powerful symbol of hope for men, women and children impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in our community.

Princeton Master Plan Launches Community Visioning Survey - A new Community Visioning Survey that went live mid-September invites residents to express their opinions about what they like about Princeton, what they value in the community, and what concerns them most. 10/6 - Beyond Pink Art Show, YWCA Princeton's Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) at MarketFair, 6pm. The event celebrates local women living with, through, and beyond breast cancer through art, most of which is created by women participating in the BCRC's Healing Arts Program. Photography, paintings, and multimedia pieces are featured in the show, including painted mastectomy casts and other Healing Arts projects. 10/8 - The Celtic Festival and Highland Games, 10:30-6:30pm., at Liberty Lake, Bordentown, NJ. CASA is a non-profit organization that recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers who speak up in Mercer County Family Court for the best interests of children that have been removed from their families due to abuse and/or neglect and placed in the foster care system. 10/13 – ‘Sisters with Transistors’, Screening and Discussion @Morven (Virtual and In-Person), 6:30pm., You're invited to a watch party of the 2020 documentary Sisters with Transistors, celebrating the music, work, and lives of the visionary women who pioneered electronic music. 10/21 – Concert, The Princeton Folk Music Society, 8pm., A fusion of American and Italian folk music traditions with Beppe Gambetta. Beppe is a guitar master (think Earl Scruggs meets Richard Thompson) who taught himself to flat-pick by listening to bluegrass LPs. 10/22 - Princeton University Concerts ("PUC") welcomes back The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Centerat 1pm. for the first family program on the series since the start of the pandemic — "Meet the Music: Can Music Tell a Story?", an interactive program curated for kids ages 6-12. This first of two "All in the Family" events in PUC's 2022-23 season will take place at Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall. Tickets for Princeton University Concerts' family programs go quickly and are only $5 for children and $10 for adults. 10/23 – Concert, Princeton Pro Musica, 4pm., American Prize Award winner for choral performance, will present its season-opening concert on Sunday, October 23, at 4:00 p.m. Princeton Pro Musica returns to one of the most beloved pieces in the choral repertoire—the most profound and moving work of consolation in the face of grief, and one of the most beautiful works of the Romantic period and, perhaps, of all time: Brahms’s “human” Requiem. The concert will be held at Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University. 10/28 - Hometown Halloween Parade, Arts Council of Princeton, 5:15pm. Don your best costume for the Arts Council of Princeton's Hometown Halloween Parade! It's a Princeton tradition! 10/29 – Halloween Night Hike, The Watershed Institute, 6-8:30pm., Join us on a fun journey through the woods on a crisp autumn night. You will hike through a pumpkin-lined trail through the woods and will meet Stingy Jack, learn about the first Jack O'Lantern and meet Irish folktale characters in an original drama.The event's actors tell a story with five skits along the lit trails that wind through the woods. While other Halloween programs are designed to frighten, our goal for this magical evening is to educate and enchant. Guided hikes begin every 15 minutes; the last hike begins at 8:30 p.m. Space is limited; register early to get your preferred time slot.

10/29 - Joe Zook and Blues DeLuxe, Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie, 7-10pm., The Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie invites area music lovers to ROCK OUT to the sounds of Joe Zook and Blues DeLuxe when the popular blues band returns for a concert in the museum. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 to 10 p.m. show. Tickets are $35 for museum members and $40 for non-members, with refreshments included in the ticket price. The special brand of hard rockin' blues performed by legendary New York and New Jersey Blues Hall of Fame guitarist Joe "Zook" Zucarello and his fellow Trenton area musicians is a staple of the museum's 45-year history of musical performances by area artists. All girls entering grade 9 in Fall of 2023 are invited to sit for the Villa Scholarship Test on October 15, 2022 with a make-up date of November 19, 2022. The cost of the test (the High School Placement Test, a national test) is $40 and parents will receive a copy of their daughter's score report.
